Owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, it offers 46 parks, 37 campgrounds, 100 small islands, 10 full-service marinas, and more than a handful of lakeside restaurants. Sandwiched on both sides by an hour’s drive south to the city of Atlanta or north to the Blue Ridge Mountains, this area offers the best of all worlds.
